“We’ve been proud to work hand in hand with Tish James throughout her career in public service. As a City Councilwoman, Tish has led the fight for workers’ rights, specifically, standing up for those who provide direct care to New Yorkers,” said Raglan George, Jr. Executive Director of DC 1707. “She has consistently and passionately fought to preserve funding for center-based child care programs, supported tenants by passing the Safe Housing Act, and brought much needed accountability to powerful corporate interests. We are thrilled to endorse Councilwoman Tish James for Public Advocate and look forward to engaging our members and all New Yorkers to help get Tish elected.”

“I’m honored to earn the endorsement of DC 1707 whose members include some of the most passionate and committed workers in New York. Our campaign continues to receive support from progressive New Yorkers who want a Public Advocate with a track record of fighting for middle-class and working-class families. As a City Councilwoman, I’ve done just that, championing economic and social justice issues and making sure our city works for all New Yorkers, not just the wealthy and the well-connected. I’ve stood up against unfair budget cuts, demanded that large developments include community participation and result in real jobs, and worked to improve our schools and neighborhoods. I’ll bring the same passion to the Office of the Public Advocate work hard on behalf of every single New Yorker.”

In addition to DC 1707, Tish James has now been endorsed by SEIU 32BJ, CWA 1180, UAW, and numerous elected officials including fellow Councilmembers Maria del Carmen Arroyo, Melissa Mark-Viverito, and Sara Gonzalez.
